By using AsideMe you agree to these Terms. Read the Privacy Policy too.
1. The service
AsideMe is a live class and certification-exam-prep assistant: it captures audio from your lecture, transcribes it in real time, lets you ask questions about what was just taught, and generates study materials (quizzes, flashcards, summaries) from your indexed sources. AsideMe supports any subject — coding bootcamps, real-estate licensing, contractor and trade exams, healthcare reviews, finance certifications, and any other course you bring materials for. The service is provided "as is" without warranty.
2. Your account
- You must provide a valid email and verify it via the magic-link we send.
- You're responsible for keeping your magic-link emails confidential. Anyone who clicks the link gains access to your account until the cookie is invalidated.
- Don't share accounts. One account per person.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
3. Free trial and subscription
- New accounts get a 48-hour free trial that begins when you verify your email. The trial includes up to 30 generations per day.
- After the trial, generation features require a paid subscription. You can keep browsing the library without paying.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. Manage your subscription in the in-app billing portal.
- We use Stripe for payments. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
4. Refunds
If you're charged in error or cancel within 7 days of a renewal, email hello@asideme.app for a refund. After 7 days, subscription fees are non-refundable.
5. Acceptable use and recording consent
Don't use AsideMe to:
- Record people without their knowledge or consent. AsideMe always shows a visible recording indicator while the microphone is active — but it's your responsibility to obtain consent from everyone whose voice is being captured. Recording laws vary by jurisdiction.
- Generate content that violates the law, infringes intellectual property, harasses individuals, or constitutes hate speech.
- Reverse-engineer, abuse rate limits, or attempt to access other users' data.
- Run automated scrapers against the service or attempt to exhaust API quotas.
- Upload content you do not have the right to use — copyrighted exam materials, proprietary handbooks, or third-party study guides you didn't purchase or license.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation.
How to report violations
If you see content on AsideMe that violates these Terms, email abuse@asideme.app or use the in-app Report button next to any document or transcript entry. Non-users can use the public report form. We aim to review every report within 24 hours. Copyright takedowns have their own formal process — see our DMCA page.
Two-party-consent states — read this before recording
Several U.S. states require every party being recorded to give consent, not just one. As of writing these states include California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington. Recording a class, lecture, or conversation in any of these states without explicit consent from every participant — including the instructor and other students — can be a criminal offense. Other jurisdictions (including the EU and UK) have similar or stricter rules. You are solely responsible for complying with the recording laws of your location and the locations of everyone being recorded. If you're not sure, ask first or don't record.
Study-aid only — not professional advice
AsideMe generates text using a language model. It is a study aid, not a substitute for professional judgment. Do not rely on AsideMe for legal, medical, financial, real-estate, contracting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other licensing decisions without verifying with a qualified professional and the current version of the applicable code, statute, or board guidance. Always confirm exam content, code editions, and licensing requirements with the actual licensing authority in your jurisdiction.
6. Your data
- You own your transcripts and questions. We store them only to provide the service.
- You can export or delete your data at any time via Settings.
- We use third-party processors (Anthropic, your STT provider, Resend, Stripe) — see the Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual property
The AsideMe brand, mark, software, and documentation are © Beat Dump Inc. AsideMe generates content by calling Anthropic's API — the generated text is yours, but Anthropic's terms govern model usage.
8. Disclaimers
See "Study-aid only" under §5 above. We make no guarantees about the accuracy or completeness of generated text or transcribed audio. AsideMe may transcribe words incorrectly and Claude may answer incorrectly — always verify against the official source for your subject and jurisdiction.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. We'll notify active users by email of material changes.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of the State of Tennessee, USA, where Beat Dump Inc. is incorporated.
